Minutes of November 29, 2010 General Board Meeting of
the TA
President Bruce Chambers
called the meeting to order at 3:15 P.M. with 21 members in attendance a quorum
was not met, so the meeting would recess at 4:08 PM and continued at 5:45 PM to
vote on the 2011 budget and the five new TA members of the board.
Board members present:
Bruce Chambers, John Paulhus, Anne Skinner, Donna Waikel, and Petra
Stimmel. Board member excused: Don
Larsen.
Fun Day Chairman Report
November
20th, 46 members enjoyed the 17 minute cycle of round robin tennis
and lunch afterwards. Nancy Williams thanked the Fun Day volunteers. April 9,
and November 19 have been scheduled for 2011 Fun Days. The Sun City
Center 50th Year Anniversary will be celebrated at the November Fun
Day with an added activity.
Secretary
Anne
Skinner read the minutes of the Nov. EB meeting, which generated discussion
from the floor regarding outside tennis activities such at the tournament in
Feb. at Delray Beach, the Jim Courier Tennis Exhibition in January at the St.
Pete Forum, possible reduction of dinner/dances to two a year, the addition of
ice cream social and/or wine and cheese general meetings to attract more
members. Also discussed were ways to grow membership.
Membership
Donna
Waikel reported 226 members as of November 29, 2010. The VisitorŐs Center does
have TA flyers in their file cabinet, and the TA is represented with photos and
information in the book provided to inquiries and new residents.
Treasurer
With seventy members
present, the 2011 budget was approved by unanimous vote.
The
dues will remain the same for 2011. With projected income of $16,800 and
expenses of $19,000, approximately $43,700 should remain in the cash reserve.
The
2010 treasurer report, and the 2011 approved budget are available on the web
site. In the event a new ball machine is purchased, the funds will come from
the maintenance budget.
Social Events
Petra
Stimmel thanked all those volunteers to helped her during her term on the
board. She announced the menu and entertainment for the eveningŐs dinner and
dance.
Facilities
Tony
Holbrook announced that lines would not be changed with the upcoming addition
of new material. No date has been set.
Nominating Committee
Chairman John
Paulhus thanked his nominating committee members.
The
seventy members present voted Elaine Davis, Dave Mohl, Dave Vallo, Ozzie Swett,
and John Skinner onto the 2011 board unanimously. A meeting with the old and
new board members will be held the first week of December. Bruce Chambers,
Petra Stimmel, Don Larsen and Donna Waikel were thanked for fulfilling their
terms. John Paulhus and Anne Skinner remain on the board for 2011.
Kudos
Ed
Cantrell continues with the help of volunteers to schedule the matches. He has
been using his printer to make the cards and would like someone to volunteer to
make the cards in the future. Ed was thanked for going above and beyond the
call of duty, and for saving the association a lot of money.
Paul
Davis was thanked for creating the History of SCC Tennis available on the web
site.
